A house that doesn’t exist, imagined in one day from a single photograph I took on the river. Hundreds of houses explored, one chosen, then built as a single scrolling story, with AI as the amplifier and the choosing left to me.

The Idea

It begins with a photograph I took on the river one evening. From that sunset I explored hundreds of conceptual houses, styles, colours and typefaces, and chose one. The story is a house as a lantern at dusk: from the water, up the rock, and in through the glass, ending under a night sky with the light still on. The renders and artwork were made with AI as an amplifier. The idea, the story and the choosing were mine, all within a day.

The glass gable end from the land side, lit from inside, a deck and the river beyond.
The kitchen: a long stone counter set square to a wall of glass, the river beyond.
The cellar: a long marble table on two blocks of old timber, three black-and-white photographs lit from above.
The bedroom: a low bed facing floor-to-ceiling glass and the hills across the river.
The main hall: a curved white sofa beneath a woven pendant, under a ceiling of pale timber.
A slatted timber gate sliding open between pale stone piers at dusk, a gravel drive curving into the pines.
The house under an aurora at night, the light still on.

Hundreds of houses, one rock. AI did the rendering; the choosing was mine.

A pencil sketch titled River House, first thoughts: a steep gable on a deck by the water.
